The Sarasota Art Museum said it was “deeply saddened” by the death of contemporary artist David Hockney, calling him a world-renowned artist. The museum said Hockney’s work, including “pools,” portraits, and “iPad paintings,” invites viewers to look closer and see “that life is worth seeing.”

Sarasota Art Museum said an original work by Hockney, “Inside It Opens Up As Well,” is now on view in the exhibition “Something Borrowed, Something New.” The museum said visitors can reflect on Hockney’s impact and legacy as a “defining” artist of the 20th and 20th centuries.
